Assignment #24: TED Talk:

In his TED Talk, David Griffin, talks on overall the standards that photo journalists have and the lengths they have gone to in order to capture photographs. He talks about specific photographic journalists for National Geographic and the untraditional ways they have told stories through their images. One of the best stories that Griffin told during his TED talk was of a journalist who traveled to Chad to photograph a small animal reserve, with a large elephant population threatened by poachers. After the photographer began following the matriarch of the herd for weeks he discovered her and 20 other members of her herd slaughtered for their ivory. Capturing her beauty alive, her innocence when slaughtered, and her reign when the park rangers retrieved her stolen ivory, depicted her unique photographic story in her habitat.  David Griffin made a point about individuality and original depiction of relevant ideas and issues. Assignment #22: Triptych that tells a story:

Image
My ideas: My idea was to shoot a triptych based on Beauty and the Beast. Yet, it would be more abstract and only told using the rose from the movie. Also, I think I would have to break down the story line to the most basic- the love story. Once I broke it down I came to the beginning, middle, and end: first: the Beast not being in love(love= red), a lonely life, life is as long as the rose lasts, second: the Beast is beginning to loose petals, slowly finds love- not completely, but the lost petals have love, from Belle, last: the Beast is in love with Belle, colorful because of the new happiness in life and overall.  Beauty and the Beast (as explained above): Iso: 5000, Lens: 29mm, SS: 1/125, F-stop: f/4.2 Iso: 2800, Lens: 38mm, SS: 1/50, F-stop: f/4.8 Iso: 4500, Lens: 55mm, SS: 1/50, F-stop: f/5.6 All Images Combined:

Assignment #21: Me, myself, and I:

Image
For my final image I decided to photograph myself in my room- yet the lighting never worked out for me so I chose my second favorite area, the kitchen. I chose the setting because I love cooking and when I do cook I wish there were 3 of me to help the others; so I decided to make it happen using photoshop. One of me was doing the dishes because I am terrible at cleaning up as I go, another was getting things out of the fridge because I like to keep dairy products in the cold as long as possible, and the last of me was stirring because sometimes I forget to "stir constantly" while grabbing the other ingredients.
