Assignment #9(Semester One Final): Social Justice and Peace in the World:

Image
I decided to take this image because I always see, and partake in, ignoring the homeless. I don't have an answer as to why society does this, but it happens. In the candid image that I was able to capture, the homeless man looking up to the distracted pedestrian. Those in poverty or who are homeless don't need to be shunned or ignored. In our social justice class, we are taught that as a community we need to lift the impoverished up and help them strive. Personally I can relate to the issue that I bring up because I have found myself doing the same thing. With this piece I want people to be affected, I want the take-away to be a change in order for pedestrians to smile, say hello, or give money to those on the streets, in hopes of freeing them of their poverty.

Assignment #7: DIY Creative: Part 2: A full recreation of a painting with an installation:

Above is the image I took, lightly edited, and resized. This photo was meant to replicate the painting Lady with an Ermine  by Leonardo Di Vinci, shown below. Original Lady with an Ermine Below is a picture of the installation portion. The photo and built frame, which also replicates the same frame that the original painting hangs in, now resides in my school's main hallway.

Sketchbook #6: A piece of furniture in your house:

*I took different shots and edited each differently in order to highlight different aspects of the same piece. The object is my antique dresser(that I use); when I bought it I think that the sales lady said it was from the 1940's.* Texture: Dramatic Texture: Details: Shape: *Additional: Portrait of my lamp

Assignment #7: DIY Creative: Part 1:

My DIY assignment will be an installation of a recreated recognizable painting in the main hallway of school. I have decided to choose a painting done by Leonardo da Vinci, 'Lady with an Ermine'. When installed into the hallway I will position the photograph in a large frame- which is also a replica of the frame the original painting is in. The photo will be to scale with the painting as well as the frame. I wanted to challenge myself with this assignment by choosing a portrait- a style of photography I am not comfortable with. Also, the lighting of the painting will challenge me to perfectly recreate the shadows and shading of the model's body.
