Assignment #9(Semester One Final): Social Justice and Peace in the World:

Image
I decided to take this image because I always see, and partake in, ignoring the homeless. I don't have an answer as to why society does this, but it happens. In the candid image that I was able to capture, the homeless man looking up to the distracted pedestrian. Those in poverty or who are homeless don't need to be shunned or ignored. In our social justice class, we are taught that as a community we need to lift the impoverished up and help them strive. Personally I can relate to the issue that I bring up because I have found myself doing the same thing. With this piece I want people to be affected, I want the take-away to be a change in order for pedestrians to smile, say hello, or give money to those on the streets, in hopes of freeing them of their poverty.

Assignment #7: DIY Creative: Part 2: A full recreation of a painting with an installation:

Image
Above is the image I took, lightly edited, and resized. This photo was meant to replicate the painting Lady with an Ermine  by Leonardo Di Vinci, shown below. Original Lady with an Ermine Below is a picture of the installation portion. The photo and built frame, which also replicates the same frame that the original painting hangs in, now resides in my school's main hallway.

*I took different shots and edited each differently in order to highlight different aspects of the same piece. The object is my antique dresser(that I use); when I bought it I think that the sales lady said it was from the 1940's.* Texture: Dramatic Texture: Details: Shape: *Additional: Portrait of my lamp

Assignment #7: DIY Creative: Part 1:

My DIY assignment will be an installation of a recreated recognizable painting in the main hallway of school. I have decided to choose a painting done by Leonardo da Vinci, 'Lady with an Ermine'. When installed into the hallway I will position the photograph in a large frame- which is also a replica of the frame the original painting is in. The photo will be to scale with the painting as well as the frame. I wanted to challenge myself with this assignment by choosing a portrait- a style of photography I am not comfortable with. Also, the lighting of the painting will challenge me to perfectly recreate the shadows and shading of the model's body.

Assignment #5: Design a Photographic Essay:

Image
For my photo essay I decided to attempt to take photos that embody an emotion and that can convey the emotion through facial expressions in a portrait style. I chose happiness as my emotion because of the saying that a smile is contagious. If someone can look at my essay and as a result smile or become happy then my essay will have succeeded. I went to my most expressive friends that I thought would be up to modeling for me and asked them to wear their favorite outfit and to tell me about a time in their life, or a story, of when they were the happiest. Happiness is expressed differently through different people, these photos are paired with brief captions or descriptions written by the girl in the picture about what makes her  happy. Here are my attempts at capturing happiness through imagery.

Assignment #2: What is HDR? Photograph portion:

In order to create the image I used these 5 exposures: +2.32 +1.00 0.00 -1.00 -1.36

Assignment #2: What is HDR? Research portion:

Image
The article that I used for the write up was:   https://www.digitaltrends.com/photography/what-is-hdr-beginners-guide-to-high-dynamic-range-photography/ What does HDR mean? How can you achieve HDR successfully? HDR stands for high dynamic range. HDR takes the darkest dark aspects of a setting, by snapping a picture underexposed, along with the lightest light of the setting by taking the picture over exposed, and stitching the images together using photoshop. This techniques allows the final image to incorporate all dramatic aspects of the setting in the final image.  You can achieve HDR successfully by ensuring that your camera is still and in the same spot for all images. Also, the key is to have the blending software that allows for the images to be put together- taking the best parts of all for the final image. Found at: https://www.aja.com/solutions/hdr This image, above, impresses me becuase the HDR has captured the blue hues, and gradient sky ins...

Assignment #30: Photography Like A Pro: Kylie Cosmetics

Image
For my Photography "Ad" I chose to photograph Kylie Cosmetics because I love lip products- especially glosses, which these are. Also, I use these glosses almost every time I do my makeup. I was struggling to figure out what to take and I went into my purse and found one of the glosses and figured, why not. When shooting my concept I was trying convey the signature on the bottle in order to make the product more "personal". Also, I wanted the bottles to seem clean and neat in order to give the product a sleek look. Another aspect that I was trying to convey was the pigment and the pure colors of the glosses. In one of the images I was trying to make the gloss look shiny and "glossy" or like an ideal lip gloss- if that makes sense. My audience was people who like makeup, lip products, or Kylie Jenner.
