Assignment #16: "On Your Own" Proposal:

Proposal #1: Emotion:
  • When I was shooting for my final last semester I had Jay Maisel who was a purist street photography. I was intrigued with the idea of a "candid" or a hidden camera aspect. Last semester I was attempting to be a street photographer, but for this project I would like to build on that with my end goal being a series that portrays emotion through street photography and portraits. I plan to, if needed, use Lightroom or Photoshop in order to accentuate an emotion that is in the image using color. For example, if the image portrayed a happy looking, feeling, or moving person I would use Lightroom to brighten up the yellow, green, and bluish tones in the image to make the emotion pop. Or if the emotion in the image was strong I think I would attempt to use black and white to show the rawness of the image and purity of emotion the subject is portraying.

Proposal #2: Study of Nature:

  • For my second idea I was interested in doing a close up study of nature so possibly, animals, flowers, trees, dead plants, soil, etc. I want to, with the photos, give a glimpse at a micro-view of these subjects. My images would try to show a different side of nature, with close up views. The project overall would be similar to a series.

  1. I'm impressed with your concepts - intrigued with the first and wondering how you envision the second. I'll be curious to see which you choose...
