Assignment #5: Design a Photographic Essay:

Image
For my photo essay I decided to attempt to take photos that embody an emotion and that can convey the emotion through facial expressions in a portrait style. I chose happiness as my emotion because of the saying that a smile is contagious. If someone can look at my essay and as a result smile or become happy then my essay will have succeeded. I went to my most expressive friends that I thought would be up to modeling for me and asked them to wear their favorite outfit and to tell me about a time in their life, or a story, of when they were the happiest. Happiness is expressed differently through different people, these photos are paired with brief captions or descriptions written by the girl in the picture about what makes her  happy. Here are my attempts at capturing happiness through imagery.

The article that I used for the write up was:   https://www.digitaltrends.com/photography/what-is-hdr-beginners-guide-to-high-dynamic-range-photography/ What does HDR mean? How can you achieve HDR successfully? HDR stands for high dynamic range. HDR takes the darkest dark aspects of a setting, by snapping a picture underexposed, along with the lightest light of the setting by taking the picture over exposed, and stitching the images together using photoshop. This techniques allows the final image to incorporate all dramatic aspects of the setting in the final image.  You can achieve HDR successfully by ensuring that your camera is still and in the same spot for all images. Also, the key is to have the blending software that allows for the images to be put together- taking the best parts of all for the final image.
