Assignment #22: Triptych that tells a story:

My ideas:

  • My idea was to shoot a triptych based on Beauty and the Beast. Yet, it would be more abstract and only told using the rose from the movie. Also, I think I would have to break down the story line to the most basic- the love story. Once I broke it down I came to the beginning, middle, and end: first: the Beast not being in love(love= red), a lonely life, life is as long as the rose lasts, second: the Beast is beginning to loose petals, slowly finds love- not completely, but the lost petals have love, from Belle, last: the Beast is in love with Belle, colorful because of the new happiness in life and overall.

What is the difference between surreal and real? To me, I think that being real is something that is right in front of you, and raw. Whereas when I think of surreal it is unusual and not really possible, except in an imagination setting. What does it mean when someone says: "That's so SURREAL!"? When I hear someone say, "That's so SURREAL!" or just surreal, I think of something sort of weird and out of the ordinary, specifically Salvador Dali's painting of melting clocks, to me surreal automatically makes the subject seem out of sorts and part of the imagination. Assignment #14: Through the Lens... :

David Hockney: In his early years in his career, Hockney traveled from place to place painting. Yet, he would also shoot with a polaroid camera, which he used as an aide-memoir(memory aid) and would then use the photographs while he was painting in order to paint accurately. He later laid out all of the photos to paint the correct scene. Yet, once he finished the painting he stumbled on the new technique he would begin using, collage. Assignment #20: Wrapped Object:

Some Ideas: A person wrapped in one color and placed in a contrasting color, for example, my friend has a room that has a red color scheme and a red leather chair. My idea would be to wrap her in a blue, pale blue, gauze on the harsh brick red chair. To make the image more unique I plan on wrapping her body closely and having her hold a cup of coffee while wearing jewelry, making it so only her   body  is wrapped.  If this idea doesn't work, I am still intrigued with the idea of contrasting colors. I would get a cheap chair, I would have to buy for this project, and I would wrap it in a red gauze using a purple ribbon. I plan on taking this to a beach and placing it in the blue water. Another idea, similar to the idea of using  or placing a wrapped object in a normal scene as with the person. I was thinking of wrapping a phone with brown paper with twine and stamping the word "Fragile" on it. And having a person pose with the phone as if on a phone call.  My
